Jhansi Museum Documentation
We crafted a narrative-driven documentary and complete visual archive of the Jhansi Museum transformation, capturing the experience, people, and impact behind the restoration.
Jhansi Museum underwent a major restoration and revitalisation effort led by the Jhansi Development Authority (JDA) in collaboration with Atthah, a heritage design and curation studio. The project aimed to modernise the museum experience, improve visitor engagement, and bring the stories of past into an interactive, contemporary format.
Our role was to document this transformation not just through architectural or design changes, but through the experiences of the people who shaped it. The documentation needed to feel real, human, and reflective of the effort that went into restoring one of Jhansi’s most important cultural spaces.
The biggest challenge was crafting a cohesive story from a project that was already completed. Since this was reverse documentation, we had to retrace months of planning, design decisions, and execution without being there during the construction stages.
Another challenge was capturing the museum’s essence within a very tight 3-day timeline, while also ensuring the storytelling remained human and easy to follow for a wide audience. Aligning schedules across JDA officials, the museum team, and Atthah added to the complexity.
We solved this through a dual-layered approach documenting the transformed space while reconstructing the journey behind it. We used a walkthrough-driven filming style, emotional interview segments, and archival references to build a clear storyline. This helped us convert months of undocumented work into a coherent, engaging film that felt authentic rather than recreated.
The films now serve as a lasting digital record of the museum’s transformation and the collaborative effort behind it.
